GK-12: Inspiring and Building Tomorrow’s Workforce: A Grades 3-12 Engineering Continuum
University of Colorado

Fellows taught engineering weekly during 2005-2006 to over 1800 students in 65 grades 3-12 classes in seven schools. Our first cohort of graduating high school seniors matriculated this year. Of the 30 seniors enrolled in the year-long senior design course, 21 enrolled for fall 2006 in engineering colleges. And, 56 9th graders are enrolled in our high school Pre-Engineering Academy for fall 2006, of which 30% are girls. Colorado GK-12 Fellows also created hands-on K-12 engineering curriculum for publication in the TeachEngineering digital library, the contents of which were increased by 55% this past year.
